Did you know

  1. Back in 1936, Forrest E Mars created the light and airy bubbles we still know today as Maltesers®. They were so bubbly brilliant that the Mars family business are still making them in the same factory in Slough today, over 70 years later!

  2. The original idea was to deliver the goodness of malted milk, in a delicious and fun chocolately ball. Simply a great idea.

    Ingredients

    • 200 g Maltesers
    • 250 g Shortbread cookies (Butterkekse)
    • 150 g Butter
    • 500 ml Sour cream
    • 600 g Cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
    • 170 g Sugar
    • 4 Eggs
    • Lemon zest of 1 lemon
    • Vanilla (I used 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar)
    • 1 Bar of chocolate

    Method

    1. Line a normal sized spring form baking pan with baking paper (makes it easier to take it out in the end).
    2. Crumble the cookies and the Maltesers and mix them with melted butter. Press the mixture into the spring form.
    3. Mix sour cream, cream cheese, egg yolks, sugar, lemon zest and vanilla.
    4. Whisk the egg white until stiff and add to the mixture.
    5. Fill on top of the cookie mixture.
    6. Break the bar of chocolate into pieces and spread it over the cake (gently pushing them in).
    7. Bake in the preheated oven at 170 degree Celsius for about 60 minutes.
